I bought this after researching some other products, and seeing the mixed reviews on those other products. Amazon reviewers really liked the Fitbit and that swayed me. Wow, it came quickly, was super easy to set up and i use it with the included clip, rather than putting it in my pocket.
It is very motivating to check progress during the day. and if I see I have not done many steps, I have time to adjust during the day and get some more exercise in. It measures sleep, stairs, steps, estimated calories burned and some other things. To measure sleep, you put the fitbit inside the enclosed soft wristband at night. I learned that I am getting much less sleep than I thought I was.
I also like using the alarm. When you use the fitbit when sleeping, you can set the alarm to gently waken you by its vibrations. You wouldn’t think this would wake you, but it does. More at Amazon.com

In hindsight, if I had purchased a pedometer that required me to manually track and record the data, I would have smashed it with a rock by now. I’m glad I purchased this one.
* I don’t like wearing things on my wrist.
* Fitbit didn’t require a monthly subscription
* The fitness applications I use can import the Fitbit data from the web site.
* I can sync with just my iPhone 4S. I didn’t have to install any additional software onto my computer. Syncing with my iPhone automatically uploads the data to the web site. There’s already enough crapware on my computer.
* I’m only interested in tracking my steps, so really any pedometer will do.
* My daily goal is 5,000 – 10,000 per day. Being off by 10% is fine. I just need it to be a guide.
Setup was very easy. I charged it, downloaded the app to my phone, and connected it to my phone. It grabbed the current date and time from my phone. Super easy! More at Amazon.com.
This is my first pedometer of any sort, I’ve had it for a month and a half, and I love it. It’s small and easy to clip on, (and is incognito if I clip it on when I’m wearing a dress), and seems pretty darn accurate with step count.
I like the simple / easy to use interface to keep track of steps, food, weight, etc. It’s pretty quick to enter food (although the things logged in the food library are a little unpredictable- lots of branded items, e.g. barbecue sauce, from places I’ve never heard of.)
I like the wrist band for tracking sleep and the alarm that’s a gentle little buzz to wake you up (great if you and your partner get up at different times.) More at Amazon.com.
